A GROUP which helps tackle loneliness among older men in Bromsgrove has received a £300 cash boost from their latest ‘Shed Share’ supporters.

Bromsgrove Men in Sheds, an Age UK group which provides retirees regular workshops, received the generous donation from the Bromsgrove Lions on July 30.

Lesley Godwin from the Bromsgrove Lions said: “We are proud to help the community by supporting the Age UK’s Bromsgrove, Redditch and Wyre Forest’s ‘Men in Sheds’ project.

“There are very few initiatives quite like Men In Sheds locally, which is why it is important that we all come together to ensure that it continues.”

Former Bromsgrove councillor Janice Boswell MBE also visited the Men In Sheds.

She added: “Bromsgrove Men In Sheds is fantastic. It is such a gift to Bromsgrove to have an initiative like this within our district.

“It is so important to be a part of something – we should never underestimate the value of friendships and doing things together.”

Groups can become ‘Shed Share’ supporters for a year by donating £100 to the Men In Sheds, and receive a certificate in return.

Anyone interested can contact Jo Hughes at Age UK BRWF on 01527 568855.

To help raise awareness and funds for Bromsgrove Men in Sheds, volunteers will also be in Morrisons Bromsgrove on Thursday, August 9.
