Worcestershire County Council has launched a consultation on the rolling out of the new super high speed ‘gigabit-capable’ broadband in the area.
‘Project Gigabit’, announced by the government in Spring 2021, aims to ensure that rural communities are not left behind the latest developments in internet technology. Residents are being invited to share their views in a public review that is being carried out by Building Digital UK (BDUK).
Councillor Marc Bayliss, from Worcestershire County Council, said, “Worcestershire County Council has been committed to improving broadband speeds in the county since 2012 with the release of the Local Broadband Plan. We recognise the commercial operations will only go so far, so we welcome ‘Project Gigabit’
“As a rural county this is particularly important and so we encourage people to participate and have their say.’’
