PROPERTY sales have increased by 27 per cent in and around a Worcestershire town in the last two months.

According to estate agents Nicol & Co, 56 property sales were agreed in the Droitwich area during March and April.

This equated to a 27 per cent increase from the same period last year.

The value of properties sold in the last two months totalled just over £19 million, nearly 36 per cent higher than the £14 million achieved in March and April 2022.

Neil Randle, sales and lettings director at Nicol & Co’s Droitwich office, said that the asking prices achieved were also healthy at 99.8 per cent in March and April 2023, against 103.92 per cent in the same period of 2022.

Mr Randle said: “These figures are an important indicator of the strength of the local market, despite what some economists are saying.

“The sales agreed in March and April 2022 were strong figures in themselves, and they came at a time when property experts were talking about ongoing growth.

“But in March and April this year, despite doom-mongers predicting a property downturn, here at Nicol & Co we have actually improved on last year’s figures.

“In terms of property sales agreed, we recorded 56 this March and April against 44 in 2022, an increase of more than 27 per cent, and this growth reached nearly 36 per cent when comparing the total value of properties sold.

“This clearly shows there is an ongoing demand for properties, while the asking price achieved figure of 99.8 per cent indicates that we are delivering the value that sellers want in almost all cases.

“While there are economic uncertainties around at the present time, our experience in and around Droitwich is that bricks and mortar continue to be as sound an investment as ever.”
