A YOUNG cricketer completed the rare feat of bowling the 'perfect over' - taking six wickets in a row in a recent match.

Oliver Whitehouse, aged 12, tore through Cookhill Cricket Club earlier this month.

He dismissed six batters in six consecutive balls - all bowled, and all in the same over.

Talented Oliver ended up taking eight wickets across two overs without conceding a run in the under-12s game.

The schoolboy, who plays for Bromsgrove Cricket Club, hailed his feat as "unbelievable".

And sporting prowess clearly runs in the family - as he is the grandson of former Wimbledon champion Ann Jones, 84.

Oliver's mum Pippa, from Bromsgrove, said: “It was absolutely incredible.

“He bowled his first ball, and it went onto the wicket, and I was like, 'Oh my God he’s bowled someone out, that’s brilliant'. Everyone was high-fiving.

"And then the second ball, and I went, 'Oh my God, he’s bowled someone else out'.

''And then he was racing around, and his friends were racing around celebrating, high-fiving each other.

''And then, to go on and do it again and again. Even he could not believe it.

''He will not understand the enormity of what he’s done. And as his mum, I’m just really proud of him.”

Oliver added: "I just couldn't believe it, I got six wickets in an over. It's just unbelievable."

There have been no recorded instances of six wickets in a row - a 'perfect over' - in professional cricket.

Four wickets in four balls - known as a double hat-trick - has happened five times.

Jayden Levitt, first team captain at Bromsgrove Cricket Club, said: "It's absolutely amazing - absolutely mind-blowing.

''It's an amazing effort and I think he probably won't realise the significance until he's a lot older."
