Social media users have been left shocked after a picture of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak standing next to the tallest member of Parliament emerged online.

Daniel Kawczynski, who is a Conservative MP for Shrewsbury and Atcham, was pictured next to the Tory leader in a post on Instagram.

Kawczynski was born in Poland and has served in the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and was an aide to former Welsh Secretary David Jones.

In the post shared online, he said: "Yesterday I met the PM and raised again my concerns over the management of Shrewsbury & Telford NHS Trust."

He then added while funding had been secured for new A&E services, local construction had not started.

Despite this, users were more concerned with the apparent height difference between the two politicians after Kawczynski, who is the tallest MP at 6,9", stood next to 5,7" Rishi Sunak.

Rishi Sunak compared to 'garden gnome' after being pictured next to UK's tallest MP Daniel Kawczynski

Users rushed to the MP's comments to express their disbelief at the comparison between the two in the picture.

One user said that they thought the image was faked, writing: "Saw this photo on Twitter and assumed it was photoshopped."

Another agreed, adding: "Looks like a cardboard cut out you get from Amazon on the same scale as a Danny Devito … this has to be photoshopped surely it’s not real."

One then asked: "The pm is a garden gnome?"

On Twitter, where the picture was shared by Politics UK, users continued the conversation with one saying: "Honey, I shrunk the Prime minister!" while another added: "He looks like cardboard cut out of Rishi just like his personality."
