A dedicated community champion in Bromsgrove has celebrated 50 years of running her Poppy Appeal stands.

Ann Cheetham, aged 87, who lives at Cofton Park Manor Care Home, has not missed a single year of supporting the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal (RBL) and this year was no different.

Ms Cheetham worked with the Wythall branch of the RBL and managed to impress everyone at the Lickey Road home with her enthusiasm for fundraising.

She said: “I have been honoured to assist running the stand at Cofton Park Manor. It is very important that we continue this tradition and support the armed forces community.”

A well as fundraising, Ms Cheetham was also asked to lay a poppy wreath during the Drakes Cross Memorial Service for Cofton Park Manor.

Although the Poppy Appeal is now over, people can still contribute to the important charity.

Cofton Park Manor community relations lead, Wendy Sibley, said: “It was a huge honour to hold the poppy stall here at Cofton Park Manor and this will now certainly become one of our own traditions as we will continue to raise money for the Royal British Legion.

“Thank you Ann for all your enthusiasm and support.”
