A care home in Alcester celebrated a grand cinema opening, showing a crowd favourite film featuring Judy Garland.
Residents at Cherry Trees Care Home enjoyed the film, The Wizard of Oz, on April 24, with many of them singing the much loved song, ‘Over the Rainbow’.
They relished their freshly made popcorn, a treat from their new popcorn maker, a heartfelt gift from a past resident's family.
Grateful for the loving care Cherry Trees extended to their loved one, Rosemary, a former resident, the family gifted the staff and residents with a popcorn maker, smoothie maker and a salt lamp.
Debbie Osborne, general manager for Cherry Trees said: “We are so incredibly grateful for all of our amazing gifts and especially thankful for the wonderful popcorn maker which made the perfect addition to our afternoon event.
"We love to hear what it is our residents want and this time they wanted a fully functioning cinema room where they can watch the classics so this is what they get.”
One of the home's activities ladies, Emma, painted Elvis and Marilyn silhouettes onto the walls, which added the finishing touches to the cinema room.
