JUNIOR RUGBY: Droitwich under-16s 27 Dudley Kingswinford 0.

DROITWICH visited Dudley Kingswinford in what turned out to be a very one sided contest.

The Spa side displayed control and discipline throughout the match in some difficult conditions.

From the kick-off, Droitwich sought to and succeeded in dominating a very strong DK side, scoring their first try within the first few minutes, when Sam O’Brien drove the ball towards the DK try line only to be stopped inches from the line, though Matt Watts took the ball and crashed over.

The second try quickly followed when the Droitwich forwards drove the ball towards the Dudley line with some organised and determined scrummaging, allowing Sam Cave to split the defence open, letting Watts dive over to score his second try of the game.

Not to be out done DK pressed to open the scoring themselves but some disciplined and determined defence by Droitwich kept them out, turning the ball over.

Adam Sutterby scored in the corner for his first try of the game.

With the half coming to a close Droitwich had another opportunity to increase their lead, which was ably taken by Adam Sutterby for his second and Droitwich’s fourth try of the half, giving a first half score of 20-0.

The second half turned into a battle not only with Dudley K, but also the elements, which seemed determined to have s say in the match.

Droitwich’s determination not to relinquish their position came through when from a line out they executed a series of flowing passes stretching the Dudley K defence, with Gary Hickman running through to score his first and Droitwich’s fifth try of the game, which Oliver Swift duly converted.

As the match drew to a close, Droitwich’s discipline in defence and aggression in attack, kept Dudley K at bay, enabling Droitwich to record another clean sheet.
