MEMBERS of a rowing club in Bromsgrove might not be taking to the water, but they are taking on an epic challenge to raise money for the charity Support Our Soldiers.

David Lloyd Club Bromsgrove, is conducting a sponsored row for the charity based in the gym on rowing machines, and it’s the club’s second charity event in two years.

Last time, five members of the club managed to row 100,000 metres each, raising £3,500 for Worcestershire County air ambulance, and this time round, several more members will be joining them, as they aim for 70,000 metres each, taking more than 12 hours.

Ian Northcott, from DLC Bromsgrove, said: “Some rowers have never rowed before and some are seasoned rowers. They are all giving up their time to help raise money for this fantastic charity.

“This is all in aid of Support Our Soldiers so please donate generously. SOS send items that the troops really want and need.

“Two years ago it was tough, it meant blisters and sore bums, but it was a fantastic achievement.”

The rowing marathon will be taking place on Saturday, February 27, and the rowers can be sponsored by visiting www.justgiving.com/DLCBromsgrove.
