A BROMSGROVE charity, set up to preserve history and promote the sustainable development of the town, has launched its new-look website with the help of the town’s MP.

The eye-catching site outlines the work carried out by The Bromsgrove Society and includes a picture gallery of current and historical buildings, local records and wills, an archive of the society’s publications, and details of forthcoming and past events.

Among the events featured are details on the annual general meeting on July 5, the society’s Local History Group meetings, and the popular Bromsgrove Summer School that gives townsfolk a chance to learn more about Bromsgrove’s history.

Des Clarke, one of the society’s executive committee members, said: “Most importantly there are details of how to become a member of the society.

“The supply of new blood is the only way this society will continue to operate in the successful manner that has been done since 1980, when the society was formed.”

The new website was officially launched by town MP, Sajid Javid, at Bromsgrove Methodist Centre on April 20.

The MP said: “The society does much valuable work in preserving Bromsgrove’s heritage.

“This website will bring it fully into the 21st century and will be of great benefit to the society in recruiting new members and reaching a wider audience.

“Local residents will find plenty of useful information there."

The society’s new website can be found at bsoc.co.uk.
