AROUND 400 Bromsgrove residents nearly missed their chance to vote in the May elections after the Post Office lost their ballot papers. Vince Harrison, of Bromsgrove District Council, said a sack with the ballots in had been mislaid and council staff had to work overtime to replace them.

Ballots had to be sent out by special post and the Post Office offered tomeet the council’s costs.

à CITYGROVE property developers had revealed plans for a major shopping and leisure complex on greenbelt land north of the M42 and south of Catshill.

If given the goahead, it would see the building of a 100,000 square foot food store, a 215,000 square foot retail warehouse and a 70,000 square foot leisure complex.

The scheme included plans for a cinema, bar and restaurant.

à BROMSGROVE’S Keep Britain Tidy group dumped 80 dustbins in Bromsgrove HIgh Street to demonstrate the problem of how much rubbish was being dropped.

Around 80 dustbins was the number needed to collect all the rubbish dumped in the town centre in a week. Town sweeper Derek Sealey welcomed the display, saying the amount of rubbish dropped was a disgrace.
