A BROMSGROVE open air museum has seen a rise in the popularity of vintage weddings.
Avoncroft Museum, in Stoke Heath, is reporting that half the couples who have booked a wedding at the venue this year are planning a retro-themed occasion.
The venue hosts civil ceremonies, civil partnerships and wedding receptions.
In the vintage weddings planned, couples have been choosing to have guests treated to traditional afternoon high tea with delicate finger sandwiches, cakes and scones, accompanied by loose leaf tea.
Couples are also wanting ivory chair covers, a floral centre piece for each table, and the museum’s Guesten Hall decorated with traditional bunting.
Emma Townshend, from Avoncroft, said: “I think Kate Middleton’s elegant wedding dress and Downton Abbey have inspired couples to base their wedding day on the refinement of days of old.”
The museum is holding a free wedding fair on Sunday, March 3, between 11-3pm.
