A TOWN young farmers club has been celebrating after scooping a prestigious trophy at a county show.

Members of Bromsgrove Young Farmers Club competed at the 66th show of Worcestershire Federation of Young Farmers Club.

The Bromsgrove club, chaired by Johnny Pearman and Emily Chance, has 70 members aged between 10 and 26-years-old and were placed in the top three in most competitions on the day.

At the pre-show stockjudging competition, the club's members gained an impressive eight first places out of 15 competitions.

And Bromsgrove Young Farmers were awarded the main prize, the Show Championship Cup, ahead of second place Tenbury Wells Young Farmers by just 150 points.

The event took place at Brookhouse Farm, in Redditch.

County Show chairman Sarah Geggie said: "The members put 100 per cent into the show and it was great to see well-over two thirds of the competitions full, and as usual the standard of entries was extremely high."

Bromsgrove Young Farmers secretary Emily Chance said: “To win the county show on home ground is such an honour and we are all so proud of what our members have achieved over the last year as well as today at the county show."

Winning entries from the county show go on to compete at the Three Counties Show, competing against Herefordshire and Gloucestershire Young Farmers for the title of the Lord Lieutenant Cup.
