TALENTED youngsters from a Bromsgrove and Redditch college are preparing to showcase their artistic skills.

Heart of Worcestershire College students from the creative arts department including art and design, production arts, music, creative media and interactive games design, will be showcasing their talents during an arts week.

During the week, from Tuesday, June 9, to Saturday, June 13, students will be showcasing their talents with a number of exhibitions and events.

The public are invited to attend and shows will be free.

The week starts with creative media students hosting the 10th annual student film and video popcorn awards, which feature the creative work of BTEC Extended Diploma and the Foundation Degree Media students, with awards covering a number of categories.

On Wednesday, June 10, backstage comes to the front as production arts students invite the public to enjoy a live exhibition of cabaret including music, dance and a diverse fashion show.

Music students will be holding the MUSO awards on Thursday, June 11. The awards will recognise and celebrate exception students and their outstanding work.

During the awards youngsters currently studying the level three extended diploma in music will be performing a showcase of their work.

The week concludes with art and design students holding an end of year show from Thursday, June 11, to Saturday, June 13.

This takes place from 10am until 4pm and features an exhibition of the work of students from level one to foundation degrees.

The work on display includes fine art, graphic design, photography, video, interior design, furniture and product design, fashion, textiles, ceramics and sculpture.

Paul Joyner, curiculum, resource and quality manager for arts, media and publishing, said: "The learning journey demonstrated by students across the Heart of Worcestershire College is an accolade to the lecturers who teach them.

"Arts Week is an opportunity for learners to exhibit their ideas and concepts to the wider community."

Arts week is a free event and is open to the public.
