THE Belbroughton History Society is organising a talk next week on life in the village 100 years ago.

Local historian Doug Smith will talk about how in the throes of the first world war, 1916 saw the biggest loss of life for people from Belbroughton fighting overseas, possibly because of the introduction of conscription.

At home women started working in the fields, and there was also a dramatic gale, which caused damage to the Talbot.

The talk, which is taking place on Wednesday, February 17 from 8pm at Belbroughton Church Hall. There is an entrance fee of £2.50.
