A LAMPPOST has been demolished after a car smashed into it in Groveley Lane in Longbridge.
The car uprooted the post before crashing into a nearby tree, leaving the vehicle badly damaged.
Five West Midlands firefighters from Northfield were sent to the scene just after 1pm on Thursday, June 16, when they received reports from the police of smoke issuing from the car.
Thankfully no one was trapped inside the vehicle, and the driver was uninjured but checked over as a precaution.
Fire crews made the scene as safe as possible, but requested the assistance of Highways England after a live wire was revealed coming out of the ground.
Firefighters left the incident in the hands of police at 1.25pm.
