MAINTENANCE works on Churchfields Multi-Storey Car Park will continue later this month and are expected to take two weeks to complete.

From January 23, contractors will be onsite to install new LED lighting, which should mean improved visibility levels and security at the car park, as well as cheaper energy bills.

As LED lights also last longer than traditional forms of lighting, Bromsgrove District Council expect this to mean less maintenance work in the future.

The lights will be fitted at night, after 8pm, once the car park is closed to the public, so it should not affect drivers wishing to use the car park during the day.

Cllr Roger Smith, whose portfolio covers community safety, said: "Whilst the work itself should not cause any disruption to car park users, we wanted to warn nearby residents and visitors that they might see some activity in the car park of an evening.

"We have been advised that it should not cause any noise disruption. The end result aims to make a safer, brighter and more pleasant experience for everyone using the car park."
