GREEN pupils at a Bromsgrove school dressed to impress when they made a stand for sustainability.

Pupils in years ten, 11 and 12 at North Bromsgrove High School created garments made from scrap materials such as cardboard, bubble wrap and plastic to promote recycling in the school’s canteen.

As part of an eco-friendly initiative new bins have been put in place for plastic bottles and containers, which are being utilised in the art department to create recycled sculptures.

Lower school pupils have been working alongside sixth former Chris Watts, whose AS-level creation of a bird from a bike frame has been an inspirational springboard. Pupils are currently part of an after school group creating work which includes a dragonfly made from a discarded Hoover with tennis racket wings and a hub cap cat.

Brighton artist Ptolmey Elrington will be hosting a two day workshop in January for pupils to continue developing their ideas into 3D.
