A NEW group supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) parents has launched in Bromsgrove.

The group, called Families Around Bromsgrove (FAB), has been set up by town resident Stuart Bray, and provides a space for LGBT parents to meet while their children play and socialise.

Parents will be able to discuss the issues that arise in day-to-day life, such as bullying and general experiences of being a LGBT parent.

FAB is also aiming to be an invaluable support tool for individuals and couples from the LGBT communities to turn to if they are interested in becoming parents.

Stuart said: ”Living in Bromsgrove can be isolating for LGBT individuals and couples, but there are surrounding areas that people can travel to if they choose to participate in LGBT community activities.

“As a gay parent, I often feel unable to access these communities, as they often focus around the evening social aspects of the LGBT community, such as bars and clubs.

“Having a resource whereby parents can meet on a monthly basis is invaluable to provide necessary support for families.“
