BROMSGROVE MP Sajid Javid has written to the Education Secretar, Michael Gove, urging him to promptly implement a national funding system that will be fairer for pupils in Bromsgrove and throughout Worcestershire.

Mr Javid said he was pleased Mr Gove has accepted that the current funding system is unfair, with schoolchildren in Worcestershire receiving approximately £1,088 per head less than pupils in neighbouring Birmingham, but was disappointed that this inequality will not be addressed until 2015.

“Although Bromsgrove’s schools all perform highly, schoolchildren in our area have suffered from years of under spending, and I am not content to leave things as they currently are,” said Mr Javid.

“I want a better deal for pupils in Bromsgrove, so I have again pushed the Education Secretary for action to rectify this unfairness.”
