STRANDED at Worcester late one night, two Birmingham men decided to get home on foot. The following morning they were seen tramping along the M5 at Catshill and fined £3 by Bromsgrove Magistrates.
They wrote that they had been unaware that pedestrians were banned from the motorway.
One of them was said to have added: “We could not understand why the cars kept hooting at us.”
GOOD progress was being made with the new Roman Catholic church of St John Fisher which was rising on the corner of Cofton and Cropredy Roads, West Heath, near Rubery. It had originally been hoped that the church, which followed the Tuscan-Romanesque style, would be completed by the previous spring, but the hard winter had caused delay and the completion date was put back to Easter.
