MR Harold Grove, barman at the Golden Cross Vaults, met with a serious accident after seeing his wife off by train in Birmingham. He started to ride to Bromsgrove on his motorcycle and was later found in an unconscious state in the road between Northfield and Longbridge.

It was not known how the incident occurred and he was found to be suffering from severe injuries to the left side of his head. Little hope was entertained for his recovery.

A HEAVY thunderstorm was experienced at Droitwich accompanied by vivid lightning.

The middle of High Street was flooded and the White Hart Inn saved wet floors by using storm boards and clay at the doors. In the evening the Corporation men turned out with carts and cleansed all the flooded premises.

In Brine Baths park one of the largest Batland Pear trees came down close to the bandstand.
