THIS year Discover Bewdley is celebrating its 10th Spring Fair with a record number of events and attractions across the May Day Bank Holiday weekend.

There will be plenty to see and do for visitors and local people, with events happening in the Museum, Jubilee Gardens, Load Street, Severnside South and around the town.

There will be a performance of traditional Maypole dancing, performed by the pupils of St Anne’s Primary School, and a chance to visit the Spring Fair Rabbits in the orchard. There will be family fun and a green market in Jubilee Gardens and the orchard.

The Local Produce Market will be in Load Street on the Sunday, with craft and food stalls on Severnside South on both days.

On Monday, there will be the popular annual Bewdley Spring Salad Challenge at 3pm.

For children, there will be fun on the Victorian horses fun fair ride and face-painting and activities. Besides riverside walks, there will be demonstrations of traditional wood crafts, street entertainment and a chance to relax on deck chairs to the chilled out tones of the Ridge Top Mountain Boys.

On offer will be a range of street foods along with local cafes, pubs and restaurants serving food, ice creams and cream teas – or you can bring your own picnic to enjoy by the river or in Jubilee Gardens.

For those who are thirsty, Bewdley Brewery will be opening its doors to reveal the brewing process and there will be more than 20 different ales and ciders, a barbecue and live music on offer at the riverside Mug House Pub’s beer festival.

Katherine Davis, manager of Bewdley Development Trust, which organises the Spring Fair, said: "To celebrate Bewdley's 10th Spring Fair this May Bank Holiday, local groups and businesses have put together a packed programme of events and activities for all the family.

“This year's Spring Fair has something for everyone - whether you enjoy local apple juice, ales and ice-creams or prefer to browse the local produce and craft markets.

“Bewdley is a thriving and lively market town and the Spring Fair offers a great opportunity for residents and visitors to explore its hidden history and soak in the atmosphere of this picturesque town on the River Severn.

“We are all set to extend a warm welcome to visitors this May Bank Holiday Sunday and Monday to celebrate Bewdley's 10th Spring Fair."

Free parking will be available on both days at Bewdley High School, in Stourport Road, from 10am to 5pm.
