WHEN Redditch mum Becky Moore discovered last year that, much to her surprise, she actually enjoyed running, she was determined to put her new hobby to good use.

The 43-year-old decided to complete 16 running events in 2016 to raise funds for a cause very close to her heart, Children’s Liver Disease Foundation (CLDF).

Her challenge began in February with the Stourbridge Ladies 7K and finished with the Great Birmingham Run earlier this month.

Becky said: “CLDF is an amazing charity which supports children and families affected by liver disease.

“They have been a fantastic help to us ever since my son Scott, who is now 17, was diagnosed with the rare liver disease, sclerosing cholangitis in 2012.

"I want to do whatever I can to give something back and so thought I would combine my new found love of running into raising funds and awareness for a charity which means a lot to both of us.”

To date she has raised more than £800 for the charity, dedicated to fighting all forms of childhood liver disease.

Chief executive of the CLDF, Alison Taylor, thanked Becky for her support.

"It’s a great achievement for someone who is new to running and the funds raised will make a difference to young people like Scott throughout the UK,” she said.
