INTREPID staff from a Kidderminster firm will be taking on a daunting half marathon to help raise money for good causes.

A team of 10 from facility and project management contractor MAK Services are taking on the ‘Hell Up North’ run in order to raise much needed funds for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and the Alzheimer’s Society.

The course, in Delamere Forest in Cheshire, will see the group tackling a host of challenging obstacles along the 13 miles on October 14.

MAK service engineer Adam Parr, who has organised the event, said: “At MAK we pride ourselves on going above and beyond.

“Hence the reason we have decided to enter into a gruelling half marathon - said to be the toughest in the UK - around Delamere Forest, Cheshire.

"The event is on Saturday, October 14 and consists of hills, dirt tracks, obstacles, hills, muddy bogs and yet more hills.

“So it's no small feat being undertaken by a team of 10 people who all vary in physical ability - to put it politely!”

The team has been boosted by Enterprise, who have donated a bus and a driver to take everyone to the event and back.

This is the latest in the company’s regular fundraising activities. In April this year, Managing Director Warwick Taylor won £560 in a charity card game that was matched by the company to see a £1,120 donation to Save the Children.

In December last year, the staff Christmas party saw £276.67 raised for the Cleft Lip and Palate Association.

These are in addition to a host of events during the last 12 months that has seen hundreds of pounds collected for causes including Severn Area Rescue Association, Cords 4 Life UK and Movember.
