EVER wondered what it felt like to be Gulliver in the island country of Lilliput?

Well, visitors to Chateau Impney Hotel, Droitwich, certainly got a good idea during an exhibition of dolls’ houses and miniatures on Sunday.

People crowded in to see the small houses filled with tiny furniture and groceries at the first Midlands Dolls House and Miniatures Fair.

And while this may sound like every small girl’s dream day out, in fact the majority of the fair’s visitors were bet-ween the ages of 35 and 55 and for them dolls’ houses are a hobby.

Lisa Carr, marketing manager for DollsHouse and Miniature Scene magazine, which organised the event, said: “I think a lot of people do come back to it when they are a bit older.

"It’s something they can pick up and run with.

“For one of these houses, you can be looking at a couple of thousand pounds. But then there are things for less than £5. It just depends what you are looking for.”

About 80 per cent of the houses and miniatures were home-made – some for sale and some just on show – and people came from all over the country to have a look at what was on offer.

Organisers were surprised and delighted by just how many people turned up to the show.

Ms Carr said: “I think there’s a good chance there will be another event."Even the exhibitors were very happy.”
