OUR annual meeting in May was well attended and Christine Hickman Smith was welcomed.

Christine had been invited to talk us through the resolution and to guide us through the election of a new president.

Regarding the resolution, members were not happy with the wording of it, and voted unanimously to give our delegate at the Royal Albert Hall discretion on the day.

All the current members of the committee had agreed to remain in post but the election for a new president was needed. Kris was voted as president, taking over from Sylvia whose letter of resignation was read to the group.

The treasurer then gave her report.

At the June meeting Kris introduced Jenny, the president of Sidemoor, who had been our delegate at the AGM in London. Jenny knew that a few of us had been at the Palace Theatre in Redditch where the AGM had been streamed but for the members who did not go she reported the events very eloquently.

Kris thanked her for coming and for her report.

Our speaker for the evening was Roz Freeman who demonstrated flower arrangements and donated them all as raffle prizes. She was very entertaining and provided us with plenty of tips when making our own arrangements.

Sue B thanked Roz on behalf of all the ladies.

Apologies had been received from four people unable to attend the meeting and three birthdays were announced – Sandra, Jean and Dianne – and they were all given cards.

Thanks to Margaret and Teresa for tea and cakes.

A special welcome was given to Pearl who is recovering from illness.

Sue K was invited to tell members how her trip to the Buckingham Palace Garden Party went it was a memorable day which was attended by many WI ladies photo’s were shown later to the group.

All the details of our clubs and trips out were given once again and boards sent round to make sure everyone was included.

Our next get together will be at Blackwell School Fete on July 4 where we are having a cake stall and selling crafts.

12-12.30pm on the field opposite the school.

Our next meeting at the Wheel St Catherine’s Church Blackwell will be July 16 at 7.30 pm when Simon Ellis, the Didgeridude, is the speaker.

All welcome.
