I have lived in Bromsgrove for 28 happy years, but I have recently been disheartened to read the disparaging remarks made by fellow Bromsgrovians in this paper about our MP Julie Kirkbride.

The MPs’ expenses scandal has affected many constituencies.

The MPs have apologised and some monies have been repaid.

I think as a country we need to forgive and forget and move on to the more important issues of recession like the problems of quantative easing and rising government borrowing or troops in Afghanistan and our education and health care systems.

I for one have been inspired by the work Julie Kirkbride has been doing for us.

She gives Bromsgrove a great voice in Westminster. I love watching her appearances on Question Time.

She works tirelessly for the people of Bromsgrove and has arranged for many constituents to visit her at the Houses of Parliament for a tour or to receive her help. I think Julie Kirkbride is Bromsgrove’s best hope for recovery after the recession has lifted.

Thank you Julie Kirkbride for representing Bromsgrove and I am pleased that you have decided to restand as our MP at the next general election.

Good luck, Julie and Bromsgrove.
