PAUL Oakes was full of praise for his Fairfield Villa players this week after they managed a 1-1 draw with Moors Academy in Midland League Division Two.
Oakes told the Advertiser: "Moors were as good a side as we've played all season.
"They were very good on the ball and passed it really well. It was a very good game of football to watch."
Alex Dugmore gave Villa a first half lead with a goal on 32 minutes after being set up by Connor Collins.
Moors made more of the running after half time but were kept at bay by goalkeeper Aaron Collins, who pulled off a string of fine saves before he was finally beaten by substitute Rhys Mason with 10 minutes remaining.
Oakes added: "It was another building block in our wall of recovery this season."
Villa have a difficult task on their hands this Saturday when they travel to top of the table NKF Burbage in Leicestershire for a Presidents Cup match.
Villa are the current holders of this trophy and Oakes said: "It's going to be a tall order as Burbage have scored 15 times in their past two games. But as defending champions, we won't be giving up this trophy lightly."
