MANAGER Rod Brown admits he is resigned to building for another season in British Gas Business Midlands One as he continues to shake up his Bromsgrove Rovers squad.

Keenan Meakin-Richards, Leon Woodley and Davion Hamilton were all sent packing by Brown prior to Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at AFC Sudbury, while midfielder Dean Craven has been released from his contract.

Brown is set to run the rule over former Greens favourite Nathan Lamey over the next couple of weeks as well as ex-Worcester City attacker Troy Wood.

The manager is pondering a couple of other swoops, although he is more likely to hand opportunities to some of the club’s younger players.

In the past week, Sam Beasley, Theo Mullins-Fairweather, Oliver O’Connell and Bradley Williamson have all be promoted from the youth team ranks.

Without completely writing off a play-off push, Brown has changed his primary focus to laying the foundations for next season.

He said: “I won’t completely write it off but you have to live in the real world.

“I think we have got to regroup and consider where we are.

“You can never say never, and you can never say you won’t put a run together.

“Everywhere I have gone, I have taken a season to lay the foundations.

“I think I have a strong nucleus of six or seven players and if I can keep them happy and have a look at some of the youngsters it will stand us in good stead.

“We are trying hard to get players with the right attitude and I don’t necessarily feel we had that.”

Brown was left ruing his sides luck after the defeat at Sudbury - their fourth straight loss.

He believes it was a much improved performance following the disappointing loss at Chasetown last Tuesday by the same scoreline.

He added: “We aren’t getting any luck.

“I’m not saying that about the Chasetown game because we deserved to get beat.

“But on Saturday I thought we competed well. Every game we will get stronger and we will get fit through playing games.”

Rovers go away to Sutton Coldfield Town on Saturday, desperate to avoid a repeat of their previous visit to Coles Lane when they were beaten 2-0 by tenants Romulus.

This is followed by a tough away trip to high-flying Atherstone Town next Tuesday.

Lamey, who hit 31 goals for Rovers in their 2006/07 promotion campaign, rejoined this week on a short-term deal from Rushall Olympic as he steps up his recovery from a calf injury.

He has netted 13 times for the Unibond Division One outfit this season.
