Bromsgrove RFC under eights played hosts to a well matched team from Lichfield.

Both sides fielded two teams and each team played three very competitive and close matches.

The first team, fielding newcomer Tom Price, won their first encounter 7-6, with fantastic tries by Joe Newbon, James Grant, Louis Harvey, Dominic Gentleman and Ian Messore.

Their second game saw an excitingly even match resulting in a 5-5 score, but with wonderful team play and passing skills shown by the whole team.

Their final game saw the boys rise again to the challenge of an evenly pitched opponent, unfortunately bowing out to a score of 8-5, with superb passing from Keiron Valley and tries from Charles Berrow, Harvey, Grant and Gentleman.

The second team showed enormous determination against such fierce opponents, with great team play throughout resulting in a 10-10 draw.

Their second game saw excellent runs through the opposing line by Carter Robinson who helped to set up tries for the speeding Thomas Reynolds, Dylan Roberts and Joseph Colebrook.

The final game of the day again saw a fiercely contested match resulting in well deserved score of 11-6.

This match saw speedy breaks by William Smith to set up tries from Colebrook and Max Campbell, and Reynolds and Roberts both also getting tries.

The player of the week was Charles Berrow.

* The last under 15s fixtures of 2009 saw them in action at Evesham and Coleshill.

At Evesham, Bromsgrove won 35-8.

This was despite them being uncharacteristically caught on the back foot from almost the first real play when the home side returned a kick into space from deep in their own half to score in the corner.

But they came back to win with two tries from James Young and one each from Charles Harrop, Oli Morton and Alex Sykes.

Bromsgrove also beat Old Saltleians 69-21, with tries from Steve Stuart (3), Harris San (2), Rory Skitt, Dan McNougher, Craig Allington, Chris Howard and Alex Brunt.
