NORTH East Worcestershire Ravens experienced their biggest defeat of the season as they suffered a 100-0 loss at the hands of Northampton Demons at home in the Midlands Rugby League Premier.

The defending champions, who are second in the league, were far too strong for Ravens despute playing at their Hopwood home.

Ravens, who have now lost all five league games all season, continue to blood younger players and debuted two more at the weekend.

Andrew Quirk, who is Northampton Demons team manager said: “Ravens a have a good young team who played with commitment and never gave up.

"They have huge potential and just need to keep working hard and the results will come for them."

Ravens are away this Saturday to Nottingham Outlaws.

While the senior side is still a work in progress, officials at the club are pleased with the development of the junior set-up.

After only fielding a under-12s team last year, there has been a massive influx of junior players from across the West Midlands and Worcestershire.

Youngsters will be attending their first festival on the season on Sunday, June 21 in Nottingham and are expecting to field U15, U13, U11, U9 and U7s teams.

Players range from complete novices to experienced players from clubs like Kings Norton, Alcester, Bromsgrove, Redditch, Old Hales, Stourbridge, Malvern and Droitwich.

The Success has been put down to the new England RFL player development programme, called Embed the Pathway, which is being followed with all ages at the club.

The programme is the England head coach Steve McNamara's 10 year plan to regularly beat Australia by increasing the sport talent pool nationally.

The programme develops rugby skills, movement skills and mental toughness that are all key attributes required in world class athletes.
