JAYDEN Levitt and Alex Wilkinson starred as Bromsgrove recorded their first win of the season in the Birmingham League Division One with a 135-run home success against Attock last Saturday.

Levitt smacked 128 runs from 82 balls and opening bowler Wilkinson took five wickets in a one-sided clash at St Godwalds Park.

Boars skipper Mark Evenson had won the toss and decided to bat first and the hosts notched up an imposing 329-8 in their 50 overs.

While Ashley Newfield (11) was bowled early on by Haaris Khan, Bromsgrove took control through Levitt.

The opening batsman's brutal onslaught was importantly backed up well by Ryan Pedley, who hit 43 runs.

A swift 53 by Worcestershire’s Alexei Kervezee and 41 by Ben Tegg had the home side on the way to a big score.

After a brief break for rain, Attock were still faced with an uphill task and Wilkinson devastated their top-order batting with a scintillating bowling display with the new ball.

The 19-year-old dismissed Arsalaan Mahmood (16), Omar Masood (6), skipper Rawait Khan (4) and Mohammed Qamar Khan (0) as Attock were reduced to 33-4.

He then returned to take a fifth wicket late on to finish with 5-50 from 9.5 overs.

Evenson (2-18 from seven) chipped in with two wickets as Attock were dismissed for 192.

“The wicket was not an easy one (to bat on) but Jayden was playing so well he made it look easy,” said Evenson.

“He batted extremely well but Ryan Pedley also put a good knock in and meant Alex Kervezee could come in and score more runs under no pressure.

“The big score put us in control but Alex Wilkinson also produced one of the best spells of opening bowling I have every seen.

“He was unplayable and put us in a very strong position.

"It was good to get off the mark in the league and there a lot of positives for the team."

Bromsgrove will be without Evenson, Nick Husbands and Tegg for Saturday’s trip to Wellington (noon) in the league.

Will Tuffin, Yogesh Malhotra and Tom Green are set to be drafted into the side.

The Shropshire outfit are still waiting for their first win of the season.
